What we do

Time and Attendance (T&A)
The payroll of any company can be one of highest cost producing centers within a business. However in many instances, the collection of the time and attendance data is often complicated and open to error. The prime purpose of Time & Attendance Systems is the current and historical management of employee attendance, and the calculation of hours worked which are transferred to payroll for final payroll completion.

Typical time and attendance data is gathered in one of the following ways:

Punch Cards   - An employee uses a punch card to punch in / out when he/she arrives at the work place. This data is then manually punched in and transferred to a program to calculate the pay.

Manual In/Out   - An employee manually fills out and submits his/her time information on paper to a supervisor. This data is then manually transferred to a program to calculate the pay.

Electronically    - The employee uses a token (such as a swipe card or a tag) to electronically log his/her start and finish times. The data collection device records the person (through the token’s ID) and their start and finish times. The data collected is transferred to a time and attendance program, then to payroll.

These methods is open to errors and is very time consuming (employee filling them out, photocopying, distributing and collating, approval and manual entry and calculation). Research has shown that an electronic/automated time and attendance system can save up to 25% of the total cost of payroll through the eradication of time inefficiencies and errors commonly associated with time sheets. However electronic systems such as cards and tags can still be exposed to inaccuracies and errors due to buddy punching and fraud. Biometric technology, such as ecTrack’s Time and Attendance system, has eliminated inaccuracies by undeniably linking employees to start and finish times.

ecTrack’s Time & Attendance solution is proven to be reliable and cost-effective in a wide range of industries.

Access Control
To control people, they need to be identified. Issuing a key gives the bearer authorization to enter the door with the matching lock.

Instead of keys, which can have significant management costs, employers might consider numerical codes that work with electronic keypad locks. Codes can be added and deleted easily from these locks, eliminating the high costs associated with re-keying. However, people can forget or share codes. Too often, people write down passwords and codes, and they can be easy to see and to steal.

For greater security, access may be limited to something the visitor/employee holds that is difficult to duplicate, such as magnetic stripe cards and proximity tokens. A quick swipe or presentation to the reader gives a cardholder access.

However, an authorized credential does not necessarily mean the holder is the authorized person. Lost or stolen credentials are active until deleted from the system and can be used by an individual with harmful intentions.

ecTrack’s ecPass employs access control in the form of biometrics. Biometrics looks for an unalterable personal attribute, in this case fingerprints. The system has no credentials or codes to administer, and biometrics can't be shared, stolen, lost or left behind. Biometrics makes all personnel / visitors accountable, by accurately linking an individual with an event.

The key advantages of a biometric system versus transferable methods include:

  • Increased security
  • Unique to the user - cannot be guessed, stolen, shared, lost, forgotten, written down or forged
  • Prevents impersonation
  • Convenient – user always has it
  • Reduced costs – no need to supply other expensive id’s
  • Prevents fraud, industrial espionage, loss of physical and intellectual assets
